Lighting-Up Times Ten To The Power Of Invasion.....

Hi.

Random Observation: The lampost just outside, a tall slip of a slim thing, lit-up bright red about sixty minutes or so ago against a cool brooding late sun-setting evening with a few volumous threatening clouds looming about behind as the backdrop, hence the choice of these colours. Just this one singular alarmingly powerful crimson illumination that was hanging in the middle-distance, piercing the early night sky, with the jaded yellow-green remnants of the post-sun-set fast disappearing and disintegrating into the far-distance and all set above a darkened shadowed estate in the foreground, was enough to remind me of the fictional scenes in "War Of The Worlds", where blood-red lasers pour down from the opened heavens beyond to cut us down and destroy the charred remnants of an ashen laden incinerated landscape while the embers glowed away in the backgound, and smoke billowed up everywhere.
.....Or possibly the revenge of the "Tripods" as they stalk the earth, and seek you out... but I won't go there !

Manfred Mann : The Mighty Garvey! (Reissue) - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect

Manfred Mann : The Mighty Garvey! (Reissue) - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect: "the mighty garvey! (reissue) - album reviews
There aren't that many great overlooked psychedelic albums out there waiting to be unearthed -- that's one reason why this is a Japanese CD reissue well worth the high asking price. The Mighty Garvey! is probably Manfred Mann's most obscure album, and will probably run higher on vinyl. It never even got an intact release in America -- where Mercury Records deconstructed and eliminated the jocular unifying faux-concept, and retitled and repackaged it -- and it never charted in England, despite the presence of a number one charting single ('The Mighty Quinn'). The original British version was a lost psychedelic album which, if it wasn't exactly as elaborately conceived or executed as, say, the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band or Magical Mystery Tour, or the Small Faces' Ogden's Nut Gone Flake, still has a lot to recommend it. Coming off of two successive soundtrack projects, the group had a serious backlog of songs and they trotted out the best of them for this release. 'Mighty Garvey,' incidentally, refers to Eddie 'Fingers' Garvey aka Edwin O'Garvey aka Ed Garvey, a nonexistent persona conceived by the band and voiced by Mike d'Abo, who was to Manfred Mann roughly what Buster Poindexter was to David Johansen, except that "
